California Reasonable Cause Attorney
Protecting Clients' Rights by Continually Questioning Police Tactics and Procedures
Police officers enjoy a range of rights that they need to use in their efforts to enforce laws. But who can help when police fail to act reasonably, or when they violate your rights in their investigations and arrest procedures?
At The Law Offices of Kerry L. Armstrong, APLC, firm attorneys Kerry L. Armstrong and Dan Greene have worked for a combined 18 years to protect clients' rights during criminal proceedings.
Criminal prosecution depends on evidence. But evidence must be obtain by police officers and other officials legally. If illegalities occur, even the most convincing evidence can be suppressed or dismissed.
We have successfully questioned police methods in hundreds of cases, resulting in reduced or dismissed charges for numerous clients. Examples include:
- Cases in which drug charges resulted after pulling a car over for "weaving." Californians are legally allowed to weave in their own lane. We have successfully challenged evidence that resulted from weaving-related roadside pullovers when police officers' reports are vague regarding the type of weaving that allegedly occurred.
- Cases in which clients were arrested on the street for a drug violation because they were acting "nervously" and were sweating. While police can question people after observing signs of drug use, overbearing officers and hot days can also cause symptoms resembling drug use. We have had drug-use and possession cases dismissed, even after drug use was proved, based on lack of reasonable cause in questioning clients.
